Mr. Rivera de la Torre received his Law Degree from the Autonomous University of Baja California in Mexico in 2003. Three years later on 2006, he received his Master in Laws Degree (LL.M.), with a major in Corporate and Business Law from the University of Southern California (USC) located in the City of Los Angeles. In 2009, he received the validation of both his Law Degrees from the University of Panamá.
Mr. Rivera de la Torre started his legal practice in 2001 while in Law School. During said year he undertook internships with the General Consulate of Mexico in the City of Sacramento California and with the Fiscal and Administrative Justice Superior Court in Mexico. In 2003 he joins Mexican Law Firm Bryan, Gonzalez Vargas Y Gonzalez Baz S.C., at their City of Tijuana, Baja California office. The dynamism of the manufacturing industry in said geographic area during his collaboration with said firm exposes and gives him great experience in all procedures necessary to start up a business with foreign investment; from immigration procedures and the incorporation of companies, trough the start of operations.
In 2006 after concluding his LL.M., he joined law firm Bingham McCutchen LLP., a Unites States law firm, at their City of Los Angeles branch as part of the attorney group responsible of the high profile commercial litigation case between Hispanic Television giants Televisa and Univision, as counsel for Televisa.
In January 2008, as a result of his exemplary work at Bingham McCutchen LLP., he is hired by Grupo Televisa as Administrative and Financial Legal Manager and moves to Mexico City. During his association with Gupo Televisa and among other matters, he was involved in several Mergers and Acquisition transactions, the negotiation of banking agreements of behalf of Grupo Televisa’s Treasury Department and their debt offering procedures before the Mexican Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange.
Mr. Rivera has collaborated with different law firms in Panama on various matters. As a partner of this law firm, he offers corporate and commercial legal advice to companies in the Hotel and Television industries.
